Monday:
After a short slide presentation of the plants of the Little Karoo and the keynote address by prof Braam van Wyk the rest of the day will be spent on a visit to the Groenefontein Nature Reserve. Activities will include:
* Exploration of the succulent plants of the area guided by experts on the area like Jan Vlok, Gerhard Marx and Johan Cloete
* An ecological study of the area led by Jan Vlok
* Participation in a workshop on photographing plants in the veld

Wednesday:
The full day will be spent on a short trip to scenic and succulent rich parts of the Little Karoo to the west of Calitzdorp. The trip will include visits to conservation areas normally not accessible to the public. Plants to be found in this region include numerous Gibbaeum species, other mesembs, haworthias, euphorbias, stapeliads and many others.

Activities for Partners
An exciting programme will be arranged for partners of participants who do not want to attend the Congress
lectures. Visits to the world famous Cango Caves, ostrich and crocodile farms, the scenic Seweweekspoort.
Swartberg Pass and the nearby coastal area and Garden Route around George (all within an hours drive) can
be organised for spouses/companions of delegates. There will be a charge for transport etc. for these trips

Photographic Workshop
On the Friday, Saturday and Sunday prior to the Congress a photographic workshop will be held under the auspices of the well-known retired Dutch succulent nursery man, Frans Noltee. The final session of the workshop will be on the Monday morning of the Congress and will form part of the Congress..

The well-known photographer, Wiens Leeuwner will run the workshop and emphasis will be on plant photography, although other topics will also be covered.

The workshop will start at 2pm on Friday. Contact the Congress organising committee if you would like to participate. Information on costs etc. will be forwarded to you. Arrangements for accommodation can be made on request.

Additional Evening Activities
Visits to the Area

In addition to the more formal evening functions, delegates will have the opportunity to explore the succulent rich veld in the environs of Calitzdorp on their own in the late afternoons. Guidance will be given for this activity and transport will be provided.

Slide Show
As an extension to the photographic workshop in the field on Monday, an evening photographic session will be held on one evening.
