Congress Overview >>
Calitzdorp lies in the heart of the Little Karoo, the centre of
succulent endemism. It is situated on the R62 tourist route, 350km
from Cape Town and is the centre of the Portwine industry in South
Africa. The town lies on the Gamka River, between the Swartberg
mountain range and the Rooiberg mountain which host a number of
nature reserves and conservation areas. For those interested,
trips to the nearby ostrich farms, the world-famous Cango Caves,
the close-by coastal area around George, and other areas of interest,
can be arranged.
